The Li’l Abner Foundation congratulates our Archer Cecilia Seiglie for her outstanding participation in two national and international class events in Lancaster PA this weekend.
The Mentioned tournaments were first, the Lancaster Archery Classic, which brought together nearly 2,000 archers of all levels this year. Cecilia, who was competing in an event of this caliber for the first time, passed the qualification round, and by fate, the elimination round, she faced with the champion Lina Bjorklund from Sweden. Lina is one of the best archers in Europe and the world in the Barebow category, who represents the Swedish team in world-class events. I add that Lina was the one who won the championship this year.
The elimination consists of 4 rounds of 3 arrows with a maximum score of 30. In the first end, Lina scored 26 pts while Cecilia 25, the second end the pressure affected Cecilia who confesses that she had a bad ending, Lina scored 30 pts while that Cecilia only 17. The third and fourth end was a draw, where Lina achieved 27 and 25 pts, and Cecilia 27 and 25. But the 17th of the second end she collected her toll and Cecilia could not advance to the semifinal. We consider this performance a feat, considering all the variables, as well as the mettle of our athlete, who affirms that in 2024 she will return to this event for a rematch.
After the experiences on Friday and Saturday, on Sunday Ceci participated in the Easton Youth & Collegiate Trophy Tournament representing The Florida International *University (FIU). In this tournament she participated as the day before in the Barebow division, where she faced participants from various universities, since it was a national event. After a close qualifying round, Cecilia finished the competition in a tight 2nd Place against the athlete from Liberty University Kayla Cassady, the 3rd place medal was for Lexi Harris.
We want to highlight that this is the first time that we know of, that an FIU student participates in a national Archery competition of this size.
Last year the Li’l Abner Foundation participated in the youth division of the Lancaster Archery Classic with Athletes Maya Delgado and Michelle Lopez. This being the second time that the archers of our foundation step to compete alongside the best archers in the country and the world. Which is a sample that no matter where you come from, with effort and discipline you can achieve your dreams and get ahead in what you set out to do.
