As founder and President of the Lil Abner Foundation, I am so humbled and blessed with the progress we have made in the past 15 years.
I feel committed to continue to serve this community. We have been able to advance our Tutoring, Archery, and Taekwondo programs. The Free S.A.T. Prep course for High School students has been a huge success helping students increase their scores tremendously. For the second year in a row, our Dance program earned first place at the Dade County Youth Fair competitions and had their second recital at Mas Canosa center. The Archery program from Belen just began its third year and the school has officially accepted it as its newest club team.
We will be celebrating our 15th Annual Thanksgiving Bash on November at the Ronselli Park (250 SW 114th Ave) from 10 am-3 pm. We expect over 2500 residents to attend.
This year for the 4th time, the Belen Jesuit Alumni sections of medical doctors will hold an educational and screening health fair during the bash.
The Annual Disney on Wheels event was a tremendous success. We were able to offer 50 children with special needs who are medically fragile children from Miami Dade County the opportunity to visit Disney’s Magic Kingdom for the first time.
We have continued to offer scholastic programs, including scholarships for children to attend Belen Jesuit Preparatory School from 6th to 12th grades and scholarships for adults to attend Florida International University to earn a degree. The goal is simple: improve the lives of all residents in our community.
Because we are very aware that our services are needed in our community of Sweetwater, we will continue with our goals to fundraise the necessary funds to serve these citizens. With your prayers and contributions, we hope to continue inspiring individuals and companies to support our efforts by partnering and sponsoring the events hosted by the Li’l Abner Foundation.
WITH YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT-OUR FUTURE LOOKS VERY BRIGHT!
