Alan Antolinez, one of our archers participated from May 16-18 in the Archery Championship of the National Senior Games, held at the Miramar Regional Park in Miramar, FL.
This is the first time that we have an adult archer participating in an event of this category, so we asked him some questions about his experience in the tournament.
What was the reason you registered for this tournament?
I was very attracted to the idea of participating in a competition where there were archers in my age range, although most of them have great experience in the sport, I really liked the idea of sharing this learning process with them, I simply consider it very appropriate for my age (52 yrs old).
Did the event meet your expectations?
Absolutely!, I would say it exceeded them, very well organized, friendly atmosphere, I have to mention that I was unfavorably impressed by the lack of archers from South Florida, I was the only one from Miami in all categories including women, I think that it is necessary to promote more this sport that can be practiced at any age.
How could you briefly describe your experience at the event?
This was my first tournament at the national level, my teammates helped me all the time and were always attentive to me, I really enjoyed every shot, all the archers and their families were very kind and willing to help at all times, even though the temperature was high Just as the humidity made it very pleasant and fun to be there, I hope to be able to attend more competitions in the near future.
We congratulate Alan for the experience. Our program at the foundation, it is a youth program, however we have a few parents who practice alongside their children, that is one of the great things about this sport that undoubtedly brings families together.
