This Tuesday the children and young archers of the Li’l Abner foundation had a pleasant visit from the para archer from Slovenia, Ziva Lavrinc. Ziva has an incredible story of overcoming and not giving up in the face of adversity.
Before becoming a para archer, Ziva was an athlete who practiced mountaineering and mountain biking; While practicing the latter, she suffered an accident in Switzerland, the country where she lives with her husband Manfred and her little son Noah. This accident that fractured her neck and back prevented her from being able to walk, however, she did manage to recover the mobility of her upper body.
She told us that she had the opportunity to volunteer at an international event at the world center of archery excellence in Lausanne Switzerland; and that led her to practice the sport from scratch to the high competitive level in the Paralympic category. Ziva is qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics representing Slovenia.
For the young archers of the Li’l Abner Foundation it was an inspiring story at the same time that they learned valuable tips on how to improve their game, and understand that they should not give up to achieve their goals just as Ziva did.
We thank her and her family for sharing these moments with our indoor archery club in Sweetwater.
